Rain, Rain, Go Away!! I Must Garden!

Rain, rain, and more rain!! Oh, did I mention that it has been raining. While the West is too dry, the South is too wet. It seems like it has rained almost everyday. Although, free water is good for a garden, too much can be a very bad thing.

Rather than dwell on something that I have no control over, I prefer to think about more pleasant topics. Like the beautiful arch of cascading roses in the above picture. It's a climbing blaze rose. Since it had nowhere else to climb up to, we decided to train it to climb the fence in an arch shape. This picture is from a couple of weeks ago, but the roses lasted a surprisingly long time.

I haven't had much to say about the garden with all of the rain. But the weather forecasters predict that August will be drier. So, I'm hoping that we will still be able to salvage more than just tomatoes out of the garden this year. We never give up trying!
